Nano Toxicology

The combined study of the toxicity of nanomaterials is known as Nano toxicology. Nanomaterials have distinct properties when compared to their larger counterparts due to quantum size effects and a large surface area to volume ratio. Nano toxicology is a branch of bio nanoscience that studies and applies the toxicity of nanomaterials. Even when made of inert elements like gold, nanomaterials become highly active at nanometer dimensions. Nano toxicological studies are being planned to determine whether and to what extent these properties may endanger the environment and humans. Diesel nanoparticles, for example, have been shown in a mouse model to harm the cardiovascular system.
