Biography
Prof. Ji is leading the lightweight alloys and structures group consisting of 4 PhD students and 5 post-doctoral researchers. He has authored over 130 publications, over 30 presentations (12 invited talk and plenary lectures) in international conferences/workshops. He has been involved in 6 technical and organising committee in international conferences. Prof. Ji has 23 registered patents in WO, EU, UK, and CN on aluminium alloys, magnesium alloys, casting processes including semisolid process, high pressure die casting, low pressure die casting, centrifugal casting, sand casting and metallurgical equipment. He is the PI of 3 EPSRC, 7 Innovate UK and 6 UK&EU projects directly supported from Industry, as well as Co-I of 3 EPSRC and 3 Innovate UK projects, 1 NATEP project, 2 APC projects. Prof. Ji received the only innovation award from CMF UK in 2017 for his contribution in developing high strength and ductile aluminium alloys. He is technical committee member in several organisations, including NFE035 Light Metals and Their Alloys, BSI international, UK; ISO/TC 079/SC07 ‘Aluminium and cast aluminium alloys’; ISO/TC 079/SC06 ‘Wrought aluminium and aluminium alloys’; ISO/TC 079/SC05 ‘Magnesium and alloys of cast or wrought magnesium’.
